Ode To Night with Neden - An Interview

***** Interview with Neden *****

Q. When did Neden starts tell us about the history...
Neden formed about two years ago as a two-members studio project. Jan Jiskra & Adam Holub - the names behind Neden; living and composing in Prague, Czech Republic. Inspired by atmosphere of the late 70s German electronic "kosmische" music with intentional shift towards more elaborated structure. We work with ambient melodies and atmopsheric sequences created largely on analogue electronic instruments enhanced with sound of acoustic means. Two months earlier we released our first record called "Neden LP".

Q: Who are your influences?
The main influences are "Kosmische/Krautrock" era musicians from 70s, later known under the term "Berlin school of electronic music". On the other hand, we are also influenced by modern classical and avantgarde music.

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
We have a lot of favourite music. We can mention artists such as Cluster, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, Ashra, Tangerine Dream, Stockhausen, Varese, Boulez, Ravel, Bartók and others.

Q. How do you fell playing alive?
Neden is purely a studio project. Maybe sometime in the future, but certainly not at this time.

Q. How do you describe Neden sounds?
Atmospheric electronic sound with "kosmische musik" influences.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
Almost whole Neden LP was created during a year, mostly in the summer months during the nights. In the course of the work it was important to develop a fusion of our common musical ideas. Most of the songs were created during relaxation and spiritual connections of our souls. An important part of this work was to write individual songs into sheet music.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Nothing. Usually we dont know and dont listen to new music.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
We haven´t planned to make any so far. We might consider Soupir from Tros poemes de Mallarme by Ravel for this purpose.

Q. About your other project Moduretik, tell us the history, and to you what´s the difference between Neden and Moduretik?
Moduretik has a bit more history behind. Found in 2001, now has five CD releases, two cassette tapes and one 7 inch single. There was also a lot of live shows with Moduretik, but now I dont perform live anymore. Sound of Moduretik is absolute different from the sound of Neden. Just listen it and you will hear the differeces. Moduretik is influed by different sound. It is more about underground minimal electronic sound, also known as "Minimal synth" or "Synthwave".

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Composing ... - with no firm "itinerary".
