Love on the Beat with Le Volume Courbe - An Interview

***** Interview with Le Volume Courbe *****

Q. When did le volume courbe started, tell us about the history...
I guess it started in 2000 when Alan Mcgee signed me to his label Poptones. i wasn't quite ready when it did!

Q: Who are your influences?
My influences are people, my friends, movies, visual arts, the spirit of dub music and my room.

Q. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
There are so many but if i had to pick 5 today and go to the moon i would choose

Talking Heads "Fear of music"
Augustus Pablo "East of the river Nile"
Serge Gainsbourg "melody nelson"
Lili Boniche compilation
Twisted Teenage Screaming Fuzzbusters compilation

Q. How do you feel playing live?
I never used to like it but im getting used it and feel a bit more comfortable now.. im definitely more into recording than playing live still.

Q. How do you describe le volume courbe sounds?
The sound has changed a little bit since the first record but i guess its still intimate, intense and bit lo-fi.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
Either a friend comes up with a guitar melody and then i record vocals on it or i come up with an idea and share it with someone or record it myself. then i always produce it.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
My friend Koichi Yamanoha s band called Grimm Grimm. his first album is coming out soon on ATP records. we play loads of gigs together at the moment. and my friend Martin duffy from Felt which has a solo album out.

Q: Which bands would you love to make a cover version of?
I love doing covers but can't think of anyone at this minute.

Q: What´s the plan for the future....
I'm mastering my new record soon which should come out in September on Kevin shields and I label "Pickpocket Records"

Q: Any parting words?
Take it easy but take it!
