Pleamar with Resplandor - An Interview

***** Interview with Resplandor *****

Q. When Resplandor began, tell us the story.
Resplandor was brought to life in early 1996 with a sound influenced by shoegaze and noise pop. The debut EP “Sol De Hiel” was released in 1998. With several gigs behind, in 1999 the band went into the studio to record the debut album "Elipse" which was released in February 2000.

Q. What were and are the band's influences?
The influences of the whole life, Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Cocteau Twins, The Jesus & Mary Chain, the first 4AD and Creation Records, but also the teenage, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Fugazi

Q. What is your Top 5 albums of all time?
Slowdive’s “Just for a day” and “Souvlaki”,
My Bloody Valentine “Loveless”,
Psychocandy from The Jesus & Mary Chain.
Blue Bell Knoll from Cocteau Twins,

although it's a bit difficult to make a list of only 5 best albums of all time.

Q. How does it feel to play live?
I will summarize it in what I felt the last show, intense.

Q. What is your favorite Resplandor album / music?
As a full album "Pleamar", there is much behind that album, many experiences, intensity, madness, but I love all of our work, such as songs "Deseo" from the album "Elipse" and "Silencio en tus labios" from "Ámbar" I like them very much

Q. Pleamar is considered by many the Resplandor´s masterpiece, do you agree?
Yes, having Robin Guthrie as producer had the songs flowing together and getting an album interlaced from start to finish.

Q. At one point Resplandor went into a hiatus, because what reason?
How in life there are bad moments that make you stagnate a little, that made the band enter a recess, however, you have to take bad things as a boost and motivation and in short is what is happening now.

Q. How do you see the growing generation of shoegaze / dreampop bands around the world? Which bands would you indicate?
There are many good new bands, but the debut album by Cigarrets After Sex is awesome, I love it inside the debut albums of new bands.

Q. You guys are back in action, recently opened the Slowdive show, how did it feel to play with one of your big influences?
I can tell you that these things happen and that 20 years ago you would never have thought they had happened. Not only did it happen with Slowdive, it also happened with The Cure, The House Of Love and The Jesus & Mary Chain and producing and playing with Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins are incredible moments, that when I started with the band I never thought they would happen.

Q. What does Resplandor plan for the future?
A new album and a tour during 2018.

Q. Any parting words ?
Thank you very much for the interview and we hope to play soon in Brazil, I have been touring, but it would be incredible to play there.
